The statistics office Destatis reported that the prices of firewood in Germany increased by 85.7 percent in one year.
BERLIN, September 22 – RIA Novosti. In August 2022, fuelwood and pellet prices in Germany increased by 85.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reported Destatis, the German statistical office.
It is stated that consumer prices increased by 7.9% in the same period.
“The higher-than-average increase in wood and pellet prices is due to increased demand, as well as increased purchasing and transportation costs in the woodworking industry,” the ministry said.
It is stated that due to rising gas, oil and electricity prices, more people in Germany are turning to firewood as an alternative way to heat their homes.
