Political scientist Suzdaltsev: Kherson and Zaporozhye will help Russia get rid of imported vegetables
MOSCOW, September 30 – RIA Novosti. The entry into Russia of two agricultural regions, the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, will give impetus to the development of the country’s agriculture and save it from the need to import vegetables and many fruits, said Andrey Suzdaltsev, a political scientist and associate professor at the National Institute of Sciences. Research University Higher School of Economics told RIA Novosti.
He said both regions have excellent natural conditions. “It is not surprising that they are one of the granaries of ancient Ukraine. The regions are rich in black soil, but the soils need irrigation as the regions are arid. There are traditions of growing grains – rye, oats, barley, millet, vegetable and fruit crops – tomatoes, cabbage , Onions, peppers, eggplant, apricots, peaches, apples, cherries,” he said.
The expert said that these regions will help in the supply of water to Crimea. “This problem, of course, will now be completely resolved,” he said.
Suzdaltsev paid special attention to the energy factor. “Let’s not forget that there is the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, which is the largest in Europe and is currently bombed by Ukrainian soldiers. It is 100% used,” concluded the expert.
Suzdaltsev believes that with the proper development of these areas, they can reach self-sufficiency in a short time.
Referendums on the entry of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into the Russian Federation were held on September 23-27. According to the results of processing 100% of the votes in the DPR, 99.23% of those who voted to join the Russian Federation voted 98.42% in the LPR, 87.05% in the Kherson region and 93.11% in the Zaporozhye region . Russian President Vladimir Putin said last week that Russia will support the decision to be made by residents of the Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
