Beijing condemns new US restrictions on Chinese tech companies
BEIJING, 8 October – RIA Novosti. Commenting on the US imposing new restrictions on supplies to Chinese tech companies, Mao Ning, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said in a briefing on Saturday that the US is abusing export controls to put pressure on Chinese companies while maintaining its technology hegemony.
Earlier, the US Department of Commerce reported that the US had listed 31 companies from China as unreliable in terms of sourcing technology products. The ministry explained that for reasons beyond its control, it cannot test companies for “goodwill” as the ultimate buyer of high-tech exports.
“Due to the need to maintain technological hegemony, the United States abuses export controls to maliciously thwart and suppress Chinese companies,” the diplomat said.
Mao Ning emphasized that this practice deviates from the principle of fair competition, violates international economic and commercial norms, and not only harms the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies, but also affects the rights and interests of US companies.
He added that the politicization of scientific, technical, commercial and economic fields will not stop China’s development, but will hit the United States.
