MOSCOW, November 17 – RIA Novosti. In his speech at the plenary session of the Russia-Azerbaijan Interregional Forum on Thursday, Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov said that Russia and Azerbaijan could double their bilateral trade volume in the coming years.
By the end of 2021, bilateral trade between the two countries increased by 16 percent and reached 3.4 billion dollars.
Reshetnikov said, “The potential to increase mutual trade is obvious. Considering that export-import has been redirected, we can double our current foreign trade turnover in the coming years.”
He noted that more than 900 Russian companies from 70 regions cooperate with Azerbaijan. The top ten most active Russian regions account for 70% of trade turnover, that is, we have such a core of leaders. Overall, according to the minister, Russia ranks third among Azerbaijan’s foreign trade partners.
Reshetnikov also pointed out the importance of diversifying trade relations between countries and changing the supply spectrum. Thus, as the head of the Ministry of Economic Development said, Azerbaijan has become one of the most important suppliers of polypropylene to the Russian Federation, supplying, among other things, pure plastic, which is mainly used in the production of food and food-grade products. medical industries.
