Sobyanin: Problems arising from the departure of import companies from Moscow have actually been resolved
MOSCOW, November 18 – RIA Novosti. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in an interview with RIA Novosti that the problems arising from the departure of import companies in Moscow are resolved in almost all sectors of the economy.
He noted that the departure of foreign investors opened a window of opportunity for domestic producers and created niches that began to fill with domestic goods very quickly.
However, according to the mayor, this situation also worried local entrepreneurs. “When we first met our entrepreneurs, we had anxiety, excitement everywhere, almost in this mode online, constantly holding sectoral working groups of various sectors … It wasn’t very big, but, nevertheless, the tension was felt,” he said.
At the same time, Sobyanin added that the investments of foreign companies that left Moscow remained in the city.
After the start of Russia’s military action in Ukraine, the West increased its sanctions pressure on Moscow. Some countries announced the freeze of Russian assets, many brands left the country. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the policy of controlling and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy for the West and that the sanctions deal a heavy blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main purpose of the West is to make the lives of millions of people worse.
