First Vice President of Rosatom Komarov: the company continues to ship uranium products to the USA
SOCI, November 22 – RIA Novosti. Kirill Komarov, First Vice-President of the Russian state agency, said that Rosatom’s partnership in the supply of uranium products has not been interrupted under current conditions, and that uranium is also shipped to the USA.
“Shipments to the United States also continue,” Komarov said at a briefing at the Atomexpo 2022 forum in Sochi. said.
According to Komarov, there is no reason for Rosatom’s foreign partners to refuse cooperation in the nuclear fuel cycle field.
“For example, EU authorities have banned air communications between Russia and the European Union. All this time, planes from Russia continued to fly and bring nuclear fuel and enriched uranium to European nuclear facilities. Now we transport them with a slightly more complex logistics route, but still ours. We carry it no matter what kind of problems and difficulties are created for us,” he added.
As a factor in maintaining contacts in the nuclear fuel cycle field, Komarov described Rosatom’s “fanatic rigor and methodicity” in enforcing conventions in this field ultimately related to nuclear safety.
It has been repeatedly reported that the United States is critically dependent on Russian uranium supplies and that cutting uranium supplies from the Russian Federation would crash the American nuclear power industry.
