Enakievsky Metallurgical Plant, the largest of the DPR, celebrated its 125th anniversary
DONETSK, November 23 – RIA Novosti. Enakievsky Metallurgical Plant, the largest in DPR, held its 125th anniversary pig iron production on Wednesday. Labor veterans were also involved in the process of smelting iron in a blast furnace.
Today’s pig iron production is an indicator of the efficiency and stability of YeMZ, which continues to work even in the most difficult times. This was also expressed by Denis Pushilin, acting head of the DPR, who attended the event.
“Of course, we are talking about eight very difficult years, when there is a war on our land, but still the business is working, the enterprise is developing, keeping the traditions … even to maintain this love for the business in the most difficult times is worth a lot,” said Pushilin.
According to Vladimir Sadovy, Chairman of the EMZ workshop committee, the capacity of just one shop is enough to produce up to 300 tons of pig iron per day, which indicates a high production capacity.
A workshop can usually melt between 1,000 and 1,500 tons per day, but the furnace’s capacity can be up to 3,000 tons per day.
The first blast furnace of the Petrovsky Factory was detonated on November 27, 1897, sprinkled with holy water and wishing it to work for many years. A few days later the second blast furnace went into operation. The daily output of the two blast furnaces was 18,000 poods of pig iron, about 295 tons. And a year later, the place where this factory, mines and surrounding villages were located was called Yenakiyevo.
