ASTANA, November 28 – RIA Novosti. Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev considers it important to strengthen cooperation between the border regions of the republic and Russia.
Speaking via video conference to the participants of the XVIII Interregional Cooperation Forum between Russia and Kazakhstan, the head of state noted that the republic is interested in developing stable trade and investment relations.
“The priority is the construction of roads in our border regions, the creation of logistics centers and economic zones. In 2019, a special economic zone Kizilzhar was established in the region of Northern Kazakhstan. Modern export-oriented production in the very near future, Tokayev said, “The activity of this special economic zone is a good complement to the cooperation between the border regions of the two countries. I believe it will gain momentum,” he said.
According to him, another priority is to expand cooperation in the production of high value-added products. “Pavlodar and Atyrau regions have favorable conditions for the work of Russian enterprises in the aluminum and petrochemical cluster. I am sure that cross-border cooperation, cooperation in this direction will help strengthen the industrial potential of our countries,” the Kazakh leader said.
In general, the President stressed that interregional and border cooperation should become a fundamental platform for constructive interaction between the two countries in all fields.
