Ursula von der Leyen: Price limit of Russian oil supplied by sea will be regulated

BRUSSELS, 2 December – RIA Novosti. Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission (EC), said in a statement that the ceiling on the price of Russian oil by sea, agreed by the European Union and G7 countries, will be adjustable.

“Today, the European Union, the G7 and other international partners have agreed to impose a global price cap on offshore oil from the Russian Federation,” he said, adding that “it would be adjustable.”

The West has stepped up sanctions pressure on Russia through Ukraine, which has led to higher electricity, fuel and food prices in Europe and the US. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that cheap and reliable Russian energy sources are a competitive advantage for Europe, and even their partial rejection has already had a negative impact on its economy and residents. And the US forcing the EU to completely reject Russian energy carriers and other sources has led to the deindustrialization of Europe, he said.

Commenting on the West’s idea of limiting the prices of Russian energy resources, the President of the Russian Federation stated that Russia will not supply anything abroad if it is against its own interests. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak also pointed out that the Russian Federation will not supply oil to countries that set a ceiling price of $60 per barrel or any other cost. He added that such restrictions are an intervention in market instruments, and that Russia is ready to work with consumers who are ready to work in market conditions.

The Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that Russia will solve all the problems that the West has created for itself.
