Putin described the situation in Transnistria as difficult for the supply of energy resources

MOSCOW, December 7 – RIA Novosti. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the situation in Pridnestrovie is not simple in terms of energy supply, the Russian Federation has been supplying free gas there for many years.

“As for the socio-economic situation, it is not easy there, including the supply of energy resources. After all, in fact, we have been supplying free gas there for many years. Putin said in a meeting with the members of the Council for the Advancement of Civil Society and Human Rights, Moldova, there are problems. We see this in both the economic and social spheres, as Moldova has its own challenges and the challenges are great.” .

Putin’s traditional meeting with members of the Council for the Advancement of Civil Society and Human Rights is held every year on the eve of Human Rights Day, which is celebrated on December 10 in Russia.

In Moldova, there is a state of emergency declared, among other things, due to the energy crisis amid problems with gas shortages and the sharp increase in the prices of energy resources. In December, Chisinau will return to purchase electricity from Moldavskaya GRES, owned by the Russian company Inter RAO (located in the unrecognized Transnistria territory), with which it has suspended business relations since November 1. “Moldovagaz” will continue to supply Pridnestrovie with the necessary amount of blue fuel, and Moldova will start using gas from accumulated reserves (more than 200 million cubic meters).

In October last year, Moldovan authorities agreed with Gazprom to extend the contract for gas supply to the republic in 2022, subject to inspection of Moldovagaz debt. “Gazprom” reported that it reserves the right to completely cease gas supplies to Moldova, due to the fact that “Moldovagaz” violated its payment obligations and deadlines for signing an agreement on the payment of historical debt.
