The United States has adopted a defense budget of approximately $850 billion for 2023.
WASHINGTON, December 8 – RIA Novosti. The US House of Representatives has passed a defense budget of approximately $850 billion for 2023. Voting results.
The document now needs to be considered by the Senate, which, as expected, will happen before the end of this year.
The defense budget projects a record $847.3 billion outlay, compared to last year’s $778 billion document.
The defense budget includes the thesis that Washington will try to exclude Russia from a number of international organizations, including the G20. The budget says six billion dollars have been provided for the need to contain Russia in Europe and reduce Russia’s dependence on energy resources. The budget includes an initiative to impose sanctions on participation in gold and foreign exchange transactions with the Russian Federation. In addition, the supported budget indicates that the exchange of information on missile defense systems with the Russian Federation is permanently prohibited. The budget also includes $10 billion in aid to Taiwan and $800 million in aid to Ukraine.
The West has stepped up sanctions pressure on Russia through Ukraine, which has led to higher electricity, fuel and food prices in Europe and the US. Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously stated that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy of the West and that the sanctions deal a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main purpose of the West is to make the lives of millions of people worse. Moscow has repeatedly stated that the Russian Federation will overcome all difficulties.
