MOSCOW, December 8 – RIA Novosti. The general manager of the operator, Alexander Torbakhov, said that after the sale by Veon to the Russian top management, the mobile operator will retain the brand “Beeline”.
“Of course it will not change, Beeline will remain Beeline,” Torbakhov replied when asked whether Beeline would retain the brand after the sale to the local government.
Veon, a Dutch telecommunications conglomerate, announced in early November that it had begun the process of selling its Russian business, VimpelCom. Shortly after, VimpelCom announced that it would be acquired by the top management of the company, headed by CEO Alexander Torbakhov, for 130 billion rubles. As indicated at the launch of Veon, the value of the company as part of the transaction was set at 370 billion rubles. The press service of Beeline RIA Novosti announced that the net debt of VimpelCom is 240 billion rubles.
