RAPU: Russia reduced its fertilizer exports by 15 percent in 2022

MOSCOW, December 28 – RIA Novosti. According to the Russian Fertilizer Manufacturers Association (RAPU), the decline in Russian fertilizer exports in 2022 will be only 15%, as it is possible to ease the pressure of sanctions – to re-orient logistics and enter the markets of friendly countries.

“The result of the Western sanctions was a 15% decrease in Russia’s mineral fertilizer exports in 2022, according to expert estimates. At the same time, we predicted a 20% decrease in exports in the summer. This confirms that from June-July the Russian manufacturers began to get rid of the pressure of sanctions, to find new alternative delivery routes – to leave the ports of the Baltic States to the ports of the Russian Federation, to increase deliveries to the markets of friendly countries. ,” – the words of the head of RAPU, Andrey Guryev, were quoted in the message.

It was noted that Russia was able mainly to increase the supply of fertilizers to India – according to preliminary data, the export of Russian fertilizers to this country almost tripled, reaching 3.6 million tons, mainly due to the increase in the supply of phosphate fertilizers. An increase of up to 700 thousand tons was achieved with an increase of 40% in the supply to Turkey. “Southeast Asian markets are characterized by high supply potential, especially since Vietnam canceled the compensatory duty on phosphate supplies from Russia in 2022. Vietnam imports about 3.5 million tons of various fertilizers per year,” the message said.

Russia has repeatedly announced the problems with the supply of Russian fertilizers to the world market. Without Russia’s supply of fertilizers and food, the affordability problem risks turning into a crisis of physical scarcity, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
