Reuters: American Chevron sends its first tanker to Venezuela for the first time in four years
WASHINGTON, December 30 – RIA Novosti. The American company Chevron has sent a tanker to Venezuela for local oil for the first time after nearly four years of economic sanctions, the agency reported. Reuters citing a knowledgeable source.
In November, the U.S. Treasury issued a six-month general license that allows Chevron to produce and refine oil in collaboration with Venezuelan company PdVSA and supply the joint venture’s products to the U.S. market.
Chevron Corp sent a tanker to Venezuela to take the first batch of crude oil to the United States in nearly four years.
According to Reuters, Chevron plans to send a second tanker to Venezuela in early January to carry diluents for the local heavy oil.
