Answering the question about the possibility of pumping gas from Rosneft fields in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Irkutsk Region through Power of Siberia 2, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that the fields in Eastern Siberia should be used comprehensively “for the domestic market and for”. the possibility of filling the gas pipeline infrastructure”. Novak added that this is generally considered as part of the development of gas transport infrastructure, and the issue is being addressed by the Ministry of Energy.

Power of Siberia 2 is a project aimed at supplying gas from Russia via Mongolia to China. At the beginning of 2022, a protocol for the evaluation of a feasibility study (feasibility study) of a construction project and a contract for design and survey studies, as well as an action plan for the joint working group of the Government of Mongolia. and Gazprom for the years 2022-2024 was signed. The final agreement with China on the project was not reported.

Earlier, the International Energy Agency (IEA) released its World Energy Outlook 2022 report, which says China is unlikely to be interested in building Power of Siberia 2 as gas demand growth will fall to 2% over the period from 2021 to 2030. . year. Also, according to the agency, Chinese importers are actively contracting for new long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply contracts, and the country has sufficient contractual supply to meet projected demand through the 2030s.
