Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2023, held under the theme “Together to advance climate action ahead of COP28”, is the first global meeting on sustainability to be held during this important year.

Zayed Sustainability Award
At the opening ceremony, 10 Zayed Sustainability Prize winners from 5 continents were honored for their achievements and efforts in developing sustainable innovations applicable to scale.
Highlights of the six-day week included the 13th session of the General Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the seventh session of the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Forum.
The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit also brought together sustainability policymakers and opinion leaders from around the world to discuss ways to use innovation to achieve climate neutrality.
The week’s agenda included the first ever Green Hydrogen Summit organized by the Masdar Green Hydrogen Department.
On the other hand, during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, Masdar announced a series of projects and international agreements aimed at achieving the goal of increasing clean energy generation capacity to 100 gigawatts by 2030. And that included renewable energy projects. with three African countries, with a combined capacity of 5 gigawatts, under the umbrella of the “Union 7” program sponsored by the United Arab Emirates.
Masdar announced an agreement with the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan to develop renewable energy projects with a capacity of 1 gigawatt, an agreement with the Investment and Development Fund of Kazakhstan to develop a wind farm of 1 gigawatt and an agreement with the National of Azerbaijan Oil. It was also announced that US$20 billion will be allocated as a first phase to finance clean and renewable energy projects under the UAE-US Strategic Partnership.
