UN warns US economic outlook will worsen in second half of 2022
UN, 25 January – RIA Novosti. According to the UN’s report on the economic situation in the world and its expectations for this year, the short-term economic outlook in the USA began to deteriorate rapidly in the second half of 2022.
Consumer price inflation rose sharply from 1.4% in December 2020 to 9.1% in June 2022, with average monthly price inflation of 4.7% in 2021.
“For most of 2021, policy makers saw inflationary pressures as temporary and expected them to disappear once the economy reopened. However, inflation continued to rise in 2022,” the document said.
