Foreign Minister Lavrov: Russia strives for the stability of energy markets and does not play like the USA
MOSCOW, February 1 – RIA Novosti. Russian Foreign Minister, Russia and Algeria are trying to keep the world energy markets stable, and for this it is not necessary to try to manipulate prices as the US and its allies are trying to do with Russian oil and gas. Sergey Lavrov said.
In an interview with RT Arabic, he reminded that Russia and Algeria are partners within OPEC+ and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.
“Recently, at the regular ministerial meeting of OPEC +, a decision was taken confirming the coordinated, unified approach to the regulation of the oil and oil products market based on the balance of interests of all members of this union, producers and consumers. This step is to the detriment of the producers of “black gold” of this market. It has caused bitter reaction from those who want it to serve only their own interests. OPEC+ has defended its position and this format has proven to be a serious, independent and reliable union of responsible states,” Lavrov said.
According to him, the same can be said for the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, where the main approaches of states supplying pipelines and liquefied natural gas to world markets are coordinated.
“Russia and Algeria have a complete overlap of positions here. We’re trying to ensure that the markets are stable. To do that, we don’t need to try to ‘play’ with prices and artificially ‘kick’ them in one direction. The other is what the US and its allies are trying to do with Russian oil and gas. like,” he said.
