Moneyman: microfinance institutions are more willing to approve microlending to women than men
MOSCOW, February 4 – RIA Novosti. According to a study by the Moneyman microfinance institution, which is available to RIA Novosti, women are more likely to get loans from microfinance institutions, but men are more likely to apply to these institutions.
“In the structure of the request (applications before taking a decision from the lender) men predominate – 58% of all applications from them, women – 42%. In the structure of loans actually issued (receiving approval) , the rate is already 50% to 50%. Therefore, “Women are more likely to get loans,” he said.
Experts attribute this to women’s higher levels of financial adjustment and lenders’ greater willingness to lend to them.
At the same time, in the demand structure, 13% of the debtors are married, 62% are unmarried, and the marital status of 24% is unknown. In the structure of actually used loans, the share of family members is already 22%, while the share of unmarried people is 40%.
“The fact that a potential borrower has a formal relationship is not a decisive parameter in the rating, but in general, family clients are perceived as more financially disciplined. The family budget factor also plays a role: it is usually not so stable for those who only support themselves,” he said. commented Moneyman CEO Sergey Vesovshchuk.
