Putin arrived in the Arkhangelsk region, where several events are planned

ARKHANGELSK, February 10 – RIA Novosti. Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in the Arkhangelsk region on Friday.

He will begin his study program with a visit to the Ustyansk timber industry complex. In particular, the head of state will inspect a sawmill and a seed growing center, as well as get acquainted with information stands about the ULK group of companies (GC).

Then, Putin will hold a meeting on the development of the industry by video conference. In January, the president noted that the situation in the timber industry complex is not simple, with enterprises in the northwest of the country in a particularly vulnerable position.

The work program of the head of state also includes a meeting with the Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region, Alexander Tsybulsky.

The Ustyansky district is located in the south of the region, it is equal to the regions of the Far North. On Friday, in the administrative center of the district – the village of Oktyabrsky – it is about zero degrees, cloudy, sometimes snowing. According to the materials of the Kremlin press service, the region is actively developing due to the implementation of investment projects in the timber industry.

GK “ULK” is one of the city-forming enterprises for district and backbone companies at the federal level. The holding includes enterprises engaged in harvesting, deep processing of wood, disposal of sawmill waste and reforestation (Ustyansky seed-growing complex is engaged in this). The total log volume is 4 million cubic meters, the total woodworking volume is 2.7 million cubic meters per year.
