Security Council Secretary Patrushev: lack of personnel makes it difficult to overcome dependence on imports
CHLYABINSK, February 16 – RIA Novosti. Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said that Russia’s dependence on foreign resources in some sectors, lack of trained personnel, insufficient investment in innovation and hindering cooperation with world science make it difficult to overcome.
According to him, after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, “sanction pressure increased” and problems with the dependence of the Russian economy on foreign technologies, equipment and components aggravated.
“Russia is dependent on foreign manufacturers for many high-tech products that have largely lost their own research and production potential,” Patrushev told a meeting in Chelyabinsk. said.
For example, he explained that the share of imported equipment and components is high in the machine tool industry, heavy engineering, pharmaceutical and medical equipment.
Insufficient investment in research and development is one of the contributing factors.
“The blocking of world-class scientific research in Russia by hostile countries has a negative impact on local science. The Russian scientific community’s access to the latest achievements in science and technology and to international databases is limited,” Patrushev said.
Also, according to the secretary, “the inertia of enterprises turning to foreign suppliers” hinders the development of scientific and production potential.
“The innovative activity of enterprises is still low. The share of funds allocated for modernization and reconstruction of production is insignificant. There is a shortage of trained scientific personnel, engineering workers and workers,” he said.
