Peskov: problems with banks in the USA will practically not affect the situation in Russia
MOSCOW, March 14 – RIA Novosti. The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, said that the problems in the US banking system can practically in no way affect the situation in the Russian banking sector, the Russian Federation is to some extent insured from the negative effects of the developing crisis. , told reporters on Tuesday.
In his meeting with the press, Peskov answered the question of whether the problems with banks in the USA could “spread” to the Russian banking system.
“There are almost none now,” he said.
“Because our banking system, of course, has certain ties to, say, parts of the international financial system, but most are still under illegal restrictions imposed by the collective West. So there is a blessing in disguise. We are insured to some extent against the negative effects of the crisis.
California regulators closed Silicon Valley Bank on March 10, the largest bank failure in the United States since the 2008 financial crisis. The collapse of the SVB was associated with an increase in the US Federal Reserve’s discount rate, which led to the depreciation of assets on the balance sheets of many financial institutions. Also, authorities closed the major New York Signature Bank due to systemic risks.

A major Swiss bank was predicted to collapse soon after SVB’s bankruptcy.
