Putin: Gazprom wants to combine gas pipeline systems in Europe and the Far East
ULAN-UDE, March 14 – RIA Novosti. Gazprom has the idea to combine the Far Eastern and European gas pipeline systems, given the possible emergence of Siberian Power-2, this makes it attractive to develop a gas transport system in the east of the country due to higher export prices, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting on the implementation of the program for the development of Far Eastern cities.
“But from now on we have a pipeline to Vladivostok, where now a pipe, you can first make a connection and you need to make a connection; secondly, Gazprom has the idea to connect the European gas pipeline system, and then the Far East. Given that the eastern gas pipeline system Power of Siberia 2 is produced in our country, all this makes the development of the gas transport system attractive here, since export prices are much higher than local prices, which makes it possible for Gazprom to supply it. for a significant portion of the population,” he said.
Putin added that currently the average gasification in the country is 73%, and the eastern part of the country has not been developed before, no gas pipeline network has been “pulled” here.
“You see, how the gas pipeline system of the Soviet Union was taking shape, the east of the country was not developed in this regard, there were no gas transmission networks, everything developed on the European side.”
