In the second half of May, the “coffee with sandwich” index dropped to 101.4 points

MOSCOW, June 10 – RIA Novosti. In the second half of May, the “coffee with sandwich” (“Sandwich”) index, which reflects the picture of the consumption of popular breakfast foods by Russians, fell by 4.3 points to 101.4 points.

The index was developed by RIA Novosti based on data provided exclusively to the institution by experts from the major analytical resource Check Index. For his calculation, the “basket” contained seven products – frequent guests at the morning table of Russians: loaf (400 grams), ham (200 grams), butter (180 grams), cheese (200 grams), cucumbers (500 grams), instant coffee ( 95 grams), sugar (1 kilogram).

For items from this consumer “cart”, “Index Slip” analysts regularly calculate aggregated impersonal sales indicators (average invoice). 100 base points are taken as the “Coffee and Sandwich Index” value for the period 1-15 October 2022. Its variation corresponds to the arithmetic mean of the dynamics of the average check for each of the seven products.

From May 16 to May 31, the average bill increased for coffee (3.8% to 193 rubles) and cheese (2.7% to 152 rubles). It decreased for cucumbers (20.1% to 107 rubles), ham (10.6% to 110 rubles), sugar (3.3% to 59 rubles), butter (2.3% to 129 rubles). At the same level, the average bill (37 rubles) for a loaf has been preserved.
