Nabiullina: Payment of pensions and salaries in digital rubles will be optional
MOSCOW, November 4 – RIA Novosti. The head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, promised that payment of pensions, salaries and scholarships in digital rubles in Russia will be voluntary, everyone will be able to choose how to receive these payments.
“Of course, voluntarily, only voluntarily. This is our position,” he answered the question of how pensions and salaries will be paid in digital rubles.
The head of the Central Bank of Russia drew parallels with the transfer of pension payments in the country to the Mir card, recalling that at that time people also had the option of receiving it in cash by mail or into an account.
“The point is that if you transfer it to a card account, to a card, this must be done on a Russian card, not on Visa or Mastercard. But the person had a choice. I believe that the choice should remain.” here too – in cash, non-cash, digital rubles – in any transaction during the transfer of salaries, pensions and scholarships,” concluded Nabiullina.
