HRC member Kabanov: The level of exposure to corruption in the IT sector is increasing in the Russian Federation

MOSCOW, December 8 – RIA Novosti. The problem of corruption now arises mainly in the field of IT, housing and communal services and public procurement; Real anti-corruption expertise will help solve this problem, said Kirill Kabanov, chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Committee and member of the Human Rights Council. The President of the Russian Federation told RIA Novosti.

International Anti-Corruption Day is celebrated on 9 December.

“I can say this, corruption is increasing in IT, it remains so in housing and communal services, then, of course, state procurement in the defense industry… The risk increases depending on the amount of money allocated there. But, in essence, the main problem now is the IT sphere,” Kabanov told RIA Novosti when asked which areas should be given special attention in the context of corruption.

Additionally, the HRC member stated that the establishment of a genuine anti-corruption review instead of a formal anti-corruption review would be a measure to tackle corruption.

“Most importantly, we have not yet been able to implement such an important task as a real anti-corruption investigation. It exists, but it is official, and we must make it a reality. Each investigation must create a pattern of corrupt practices and detect possible corrupt practices,” Kabanov summarized.
