The Netherlands purchased LNG from Russia for 109 million euros after a three-month break

MOSCOW, December 10 – RIA Novosti. As can be seen from RIA Novosti’s analysis of the country’s statistical data, the Netherlands started purchasing liquefied natural gas from Russia again in September after a three-month break.

In the same month, Amsterdam purchased 211.5 million cubic meters of hydrocarbons from Moscow for 109 million euros.

In this context, Dutch imports from Russia increased by 5.3 percent on a monthly basis to 410.5 million dollars.

Dutch Climate and Energy Minister Rob Jetten said in April that the government was working to stop imports of liquefied natural gas from Russia, including calling for the country to stop signing new contracts for LNG supplies this year and calling for pre-existing agreements to be terminated.

Following this announcement, imports dropped sharply by almost 30 percent in May and stopped completely in June. While there was no interruption in purchases before, the pause lasted throughout the summer.

In November, the head of the Ministry of Energy, Nikolai Shulginov, said that Russia itself “has not turned off” its western energy supplies and remains a reliable supplier of gas even in current conditions.
