Czech economist Shviglikova: Russia rejoices at rising oil prices due to EU embargo
MOSCOW, 13 June – RIA Novosti. Russia will be satisfied with the situation in the energy market due to Western sanctions, as it can generate additional income due to high fuel prices, stated Column for the Časopis argument by economist Ilona Šviglikova.
He pointed out that the embargo imposed by the European Union on the oil sold by Moscow greatly affected the situation in the EU.
“The oil embargo is a maneuver with serious consequences for the EU. I predict it will be much worse for the EU than the Russian Federation, which can easily find alternative markets,” Shviglikova said.
The economist noted that the EU increased the price of oil for itself with its ideologically motivated actions. At the same time, the European region itself is poor in raw material reserves and its countries are dependent on the supply of these resources.
After Russia’s special operation to liberate Donbass, the West increased the pressure on Moscow to impose sanctions. Some countries announced the freeze of Russian assets, many brands left the country. The European Union has already adopted a package of six sanctions, envisaging a gradual embargo, especially on coal and oil imports.
The Kremlin has described what is happening as an unprecedented economic war. As Vladimir Putin has stated, Russia’s containment and weakening policy is a long-term strategy of the West, and the sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire world economy. According to him, the main goal of the United States and Europe is to make the lives of millions of people worse.
