Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that Russia needs to develop its own production in the agro-industrial complex – from growing material to equipment for the food and processing industry, and the first results of such work, including seeds, can be expected in 2.5 years.
“Another important task is to maximize our own production, from seeds, veterinary drugs, growing materials to agricultural machinery or equipment for the food and processing industry. Moreover, the first results of such work can be expected based on preliminary estimates. Russian and Belarusian agricultural machinery, as well as domestic in 2.5 years, including the provision of seeds,” said Mishustin, speaking at a strategic session on “Agriculture (food security)” on Tuesday.
Other important tasks facing the industry include supplying basic food products to Russia’s domestic market. “We are doing this kind of work as part of the implementation of the Food Safety Doctrine. It is also being applied beyond the previously envisaged indicators for some groups of goods, which is above all grain. , sugar, vegetable oil, meat, fish, there is progress in a number of other positions,” he said.
He added that it is important that the momentum gained does not decrease despite the sanctions that currently affect agricultural producers.
