Sandu said Moldova is interested in lifting the ban on fruit exports to Russia.
KISINAU, 16 August – RIA Novosti. Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that Chisinau wants to restart the supply of fruit to Russia, but does not know in which area the reasons for the ban lie – technical, economic or political.
Earlier, Rosselkhoznadzor announced that it has banned the import of herbal products from some regions of Moldova since August 15 due to repeated violations of quarantine requirements. The ban applies to all regions of Moldova, except the Transnistria region. Agriculture Minister Vladimir Role told Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov that Chisinau has invited experts from Rosselkhoznadzor for joint inspections.
According to him, the Moldovan authorities were surprised by the absence of settlements in the list of areas where exports were prohibited, problems were identified.
“If there is a technical problem, we want to make sure it is a technical problem and then we solve it. But we ask ourselves whether it is economic or political. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Government must insist on finding new markets and I understand that there are plans for it,” added Sandu.
He noted that authorities should strive to have high-quality competitive products in order to enter markets where the product is valuable.
