Mintsifra plans to connect Chukotka to a fiber optic line by the end of 2023
MOSCOW, August 22 – RIA Novosti. The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation is following the end of next year from a draft government decree officially published as the deadline for connecting the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug to a fiber optic line with a bandwidth of 100 Gb / s. portal legal actions.
On Friday, Dmitry Kim, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, said at the Digital Evolution forum that Chukotka will be connected to a fiber optic communication line (FOCL) in the first half of next year.
The construction of the FOCL between Kamchatka and Chukotka is carried out by Rostelecom, the cost of the state contract is 6.9 billion rubles, part of the FOCL (2.2 thousand kilometers) is under water. This is the largest regional project of the national program “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation”.
At the end of July, the regional government reported that experts have completed the laying of the Kamchatka-Chukotka FOCL. The construction of a distribution optical network on the territory of the district by Rostelecom began at the end of last year. New distribution access networks will be built using GPON technology (“optics to the apartment”), the capacity of the future line is 100 Gbit/s.
At the end of July, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko said at the meeting of the Council of Strategic Development and National Projects that telecom operators can obtain preferential loans for connecting apartment buildings in populated cities to high-speed Internet. More than 100 thousand people, the equipment must be Russian and you can send it for free.
