“New Man” exhibition on Peter I opens in New Manege
MOSCOW, September 16 – RIA Novosti. Coinciding with the 350th anniversary of Peter the Great’s birth, the “New Man” exhibition-installation was opened in New Manege.
The exhibition is organized by the ROSIZO Museum and Exhibition Center with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and with the participation of leading Russian museums such as the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the State Historical Museum, the State Historical Museum of the Russian Federation. Russian Museum, Eastern Museum, Military Uniforms Museum, Russian State Library and State Film Fund of the Russian Federation.
“Peter I is a great hero for us, who made it possible for us to create so many projects, to live as we are,” said Olga Galaktionova, general manager of ROSIZO. on the eve of the project going public.
The exhibition is dedicated to the transformations of Peter I and tells about the internal and external changes of a person of that time, as well as showing the revolutionary nature of his reforms. Visitors will learn about everyday life, fashion, secular culture, the new role of women in Petrine society, and the emperor’s contributions to science and education.
The exhibition contains more than 180 items. These are archival documents, paintings, pieces of furniture, clothing, everyday life, sculptures, printed publications, costume sketches. In particular, exhibits include the Table of Ranks of 1722, the Civil ABC with the ethos of 1877 directed by the hand of Peter the Great, the first Russian newspaper Vedomosti of 1717, and a 1699 three-striped flag with Peter’s own drawing. .
The exhibition will continue until 6 November 2022.
