14th international theater festival SOLO opens in Moscow
MOSCOW, 1 October – RIA Novosti. Today, October 1, the international festival of solo performances SOLO 2022 opens in Moscow.
A solo performance is a stage performance in which only one actor or actress performs. For the fourteenth time, the Union of Theater Workers of Russia and the Theater Center “On Strastnoy” will present to the public the best performances of this genre.

This year the festival has a big program: according to Arkova, the organizers received more than 120 applications for participation and they selected 19 of them.
The themes covered by SOLO participants this year are very different, but almost all of them focus on understanding Russian culture. Tyumen Theater analyzes Van Gogh’s identity, “The Search” from Lesosibirsk tries to unravel the mystery of Pushkin’s legacy by recruiting Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Daniil Kharms among its “researchers”. The Drama and Physical Theater project from Moscow explores Dostoevsky with light and sound effects. Yana Likhotina from Vologda tells about the tragic fate and poetry of Varlam Shalamov.

The festival has always positioned itself internationally and this year, despite all the difficulties, it has not lost its status. The audience will see the production of “Not About Me” by the State Russian Drama Theater named after FA. Iskender. Its representatives arrived in Moscow from Abkhazia. The main and only role here is played by the “guest star” of the local theater – Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Honored Artist of Armenia Vera Babicheva.
In addition, Muscovites and guests of the capital Moscow, St. Petersburg, Lesosibirsk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Tyumen, Vologda, Vladimir, Nizhnevartovsk and Velikiye Luki. SOLO will feature a total of 11 state theaters and six independent projects.
Screenings will be held in two venues: in the Theater Center “On Strastnoy” and in the Boyar Rooms of the Union of Theater Workers of Russia.
The festival will last until October 10.
