Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner to play jewel thief in ‘Joan’
MOSCOW, November 10 – RIA Novosti. Sophie Turner to star in crime drama Joan author deadline.
The project is based on true events and inspired by the story of British jewelery thief Joan Hannington. The latter is working on the script with Anna Simon (“The Essex Serpent” with Tom Hiddleston, “Mrs. Wilson” with Ruth Wilson).
The series will show how 20-year-old Hannington marries an overbearing husband. And when she ran away, she decided to get a better life for herself and her daughter.
“I’m so excited to bring Joan’s compelling story to the screen. She’s one of the most famous figures in London’s underworld and her nickname is ‘The Godmother,'” Turner said.
The actress also stated that Hannington’s image depicts a woman caught between a successful career in crime and desperate attempts to get her child back from social services.
Turner became famous for her role as Sansa Stark in the iconic Game of Thrones.
Filming for Joan will begin in London in the spring of 2023.
