Research: Pelevin’s most read books are “Chapaev and the Void” and “Generation P”

MOSCOW, November 22 – RIA Novosti. According to research data provided by Eksmo publishing house RIA Novosti, most often the works of Viktor Pelevin are read by men, and the most famous books were “Chapaev and the Void” and “Generation P”.

A survey was conducted on the Rambler portal between October 21 and November 21 for the author’s 60th anniversary. 1712 people from different regions of Russia participated. Participants were asked five questions with answer options.

“Among the readers of the portal, the author has a large number of fans, and the majority of them are male – 67 percent and 33 percent female. Pelevin is especially popular with older generation and middle managers, they turned out to be 37 percent and 27 percent respectively,” says the message.

According to the results of the research, readers learn most about the novelties of the author from the media (49 percent), acquaintances (14 percent) and when they come to the bookstore (13 percent).

Pelevin’s most famous and read books were “Chapaev and the Void” and “Generation P”, named by 44 percent and 35 percent of respondents, respectively. The book “SNUFF” received seven percent of the vote, “Empire V” – five percent , the new novel “KGBT +” – four percent, “Transhumanism Inc.” – three percent and “iPhuck10” – two percent.

Also, the majority of respondents believe that Pelevin’s books are best illustrated by the works of Salvador Dali, favored by 32 percent of those surveyed. “Readers put Hieronymus Bosch in second place (21 percent) and Banksy in the top three (18 percent). He was chosen by Wassily Kandinsky 17 percent and Kazimir Malevich 12 percent, respectively, of the voters,” the study states.
