Composer Angelo Badalamenti, who composed the music for Lynch, Bondarchuk, Boyle films, has died.

He died at his home in New Jersey, surrounded by his family. The cause of death is natural.

Badalamenti is a classically trained musician. And she collaborated with singers performing in different genres. She has worked with David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Nina Simone, Dolores O’Riordan and others.

But most importantly, the maestro is known as the author of the music for David Lynch’s projects. The director turned to Badalamenti when he needed a voice coach for Isabella Rossellini, who starred in “Blue Velvet” (1986). At that time, the composer had already gained a good reputation for his work with singers. Lynch was shocked by what Angelo and Isabella found in just a few hours.

As a result, Badalamenti wrote all the music for Blue Velvet. The director and composer continued to work together. Angelo created the soundtrack for the legendary thrillers Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive and other Lynch projects. He received a Grammy in 1990 for the music of the cult series Twin Peaks.

Badalamenti has also worked with other famous directors. For example, with Paul Schroeder (“Consolation of Strangers”), Jean-Pierre Jeunet (“Long Engagement”), Danny Boyle (“Beach”), Fyodor Bondarchuk (“Stalingrad”).
