After a special operation launched in Ukraine, Anastasia was selected to head the jury at the International Council of Children’s Books. Controversy arose around this designation. Sweden, Finland, Norway, Belgium, Estonia and Lithuania unsuccessfully tried to persuade Arkhipova to resign.
The Andersen Prize was established in 1956 and is awarded every two years. This is one of the most prestigious awards for children’s book authors. This is called the “Little Nobel Prize”. In 2018, Russian illustrator Igor Oleinikov received the award.
Margrethe II has been keeping the awards since 1992.
