Shakhnazarov: Mosfilm restored almost all Gaidai’s paintings
MOSCOW, January 27 – RIA Novosti. Mosfilm restored almost all the films of the director, screenwriter and actor Leonid Gaidai, Karen Shakhnazarov, general manager of the film concern, said at a press conference “The Age of Gaidai: events dedicated to the anniversary of the great film director.”
Pictures were transferred to digital media. “In 4K, many, in 2K many, they will be transferred to 4K,” Shakhnazarov says.
The studio also ordered a mural depicting the famous director. “We have such a “street of great masters” that there are Tarkovsky, Eisenstein, Gaidai, Menshov, there are very large murals,” Shakhnazarov explains.
Director, screenwriter, actor, People’s Artist of the USSR Leonid Gaidai was born on January 30, 1923 in the city of Svobodny, Amur Region. He spent most of his life in Irkutsk, went to school there, graduated from the theater studio and worked as an actor. In 1955, Gaidai graduated from the directing department of VGIK in Moscow. Made such films as “Moonshiners”, “Operation Y” and other adventures of Shurik”, “Prisoner of the Caucasus”, “Diamond Hand”, “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Profession”, “Sportloto-82”, “Good weather” Deribasovskaya, ya And it’s raining again on Brighton Beach.” Gaidai died on November 19, 1993.
The plan for the anniversary events for 2023 in the Irkutsk region and Gaidai’s homeland of the Amur region includes more than 100 events, including exhibitions, educational, cultural, socially significant and entertainment projects.
