ABBA guitarist Lasse Wellander dies at 70
MOSCOW, April 10 – RIA Novosti. ABBA guitarist Lasse Wellander dies of cancer at age 70 informs Metro based it on a statement from the musician’s family.
“It is with indescribable sadness that we have to announce that dear Lasse has fallen asleep. It has been learned that he has recently suffered from rapidly spreading cancer. In the early morning hours of Good Friday, Wellander died beside his loved ones.” said the musician’s family.
The guitarist started working with the famous Swedish band in 1974. He has appeared on 24 of the band’s songs and eight albums, including ABBA Voyage, which was released in 2021.
Lasse Wellander has also performed with other Swedish musicians and has released solo recordings. The guitarist’s last album, Simple Ticket, was released in 2006.
He also released the singles O Come, All Ye Faithfull, Merry-Go-Round and Overdrive last year.
