Film expert Andrei Shemyakin died at the age of 69
MOSCOW, November 29 – RIA Novosti. Film critic, cultural critic, writer and TV show host Andrei Shemyakin passed away at the age of 68, the press service of the Union of Cinematographers told RIA Novosti.
Born in 1955, Shemyakin graduated from the Romantic-Germanic department of the Faculty of Philology of Moscow State University. After completing his full-time master’s degree in 1981-1989, he worked as an assistant researcher at the Gorky Institute of World Literature of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He has been a senior student at the Research Institute of Cinematography since 1989 and a leading researcher since 2000. In 2011-2015 – President of the Russian Union of Film Academics and Film Critics. Shemyakin was the author and presenter of the TV program “Documentary Screen” for many years.
