During a fire at the Rimsky-Korsakov estate, the drawings survived and allowed to be restored
Petersburg, July 4 – RIA Novosti. According to the museum-reserve reports, the fire that occurred on July 2 at the estate of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov in the Pskov region left the historical drawings.
Earlier, the general director of the institution, Svetlana Melnikova, said that about half of the composer’s estate was burned. According to him, the fire destroyed 1082 exhibits, including memorial furniture.
According to museum staff, 1,125 items were recovered during the fire with the help of employees of the Ministry of Emergencies and residents.
The Pskov Museum-Reserve also reports that all preventive fire-fighting measures at the property were carried out on time: a new alarm system was installed in winter, all fire extinguishers were operational, and a few days before the event the wood was treated with a special protective compound.
On Saturday, the governor of the Pskov region, Mikhail Vedernikov, said that the fire, according to preliminary data, was caused by the negligence of the builders, who closed the roof of the site using open fire. According to the regional directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, while there was no loss of life in the fire, 200 square meters of land were destroyed. The regional investigation department organized an investigation.
