Lyubimova: a special commission was formed to send Rublev’s “Trinity” to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra

The Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova said that a special commission was established at the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation to organize the transfer of the “Trinity” icon by Andrei Rublev from the Tretyakov Gallery to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. .
On the eve of the Tretyakov Gallery, RIA Novosti reported that the icon went to the Lavra for worship, dedicated to the 600th anniversary of the purchase of the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh. The museum explained that the transportation was carried out “with all necessary precautions” and was placed in a specially created capsule for this purpose, preserving the “climate familiar to it”. Early next week, “Trinity” will return to the Tretyakov Gallery.
“To prepare for the transport and exhibition of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, a special commission was created, whose main task was to ensure the security of the great temple,” the Minister said in Telegram.
According to Lyubimova, this is the icon’s first trip to the temple after the October Revolution. The Minister emphasized that the “Trinity” was brought in a specially made climatic showcase and will return to the museum after the church celebrations are completed.
