Actor and filmmaker Steven Seagal said he would never give up his Russian passport.
MOSCOW, July 28 – RIA Novosti. American actor and filmmaker Steven Seagal, who received a Russian passport a few years ago, told RIA Novosti that he would never renounce his Russian citizenship.
Without specifying what he was talking about, Segal said, “First, I will never give up my Russian passport. Second, I encounter Russian hostility every day.”
In November 2016, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree granting Russian citizenship to American actor and producer Steven Seagal. Seagal’s paternal grandparents were born in one of the regions of Russia and later moved to the United States in the first half of the 20th century.
In search of his roots, the actress went to Kalmykia, Tuva and Yakutia. In August 2018, Seagal became the special representative of the State Department in charge of humanitarian relations between Russia and the United States.
