Shvydkoy: There are no guarantees for the preservation of Russian cultural assets in Europe

MOSCOW, August 29 – RIA Novosti. The President’s Special Representative for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi spoke about the preservation of Russian cultural assets in Europe. He shared his opinion at a press conference dedicated to the opening of the 17th festival of Russian culture in Japan.

“Unfortunately, we see what happened to the European ministries of culture, which forbade the communication of the European ministries of culture with the Russian cultural institutions. Today we cannot talk about interstate exchanges with Europeans. There is no guarantee that our values will be preserved. In Europe, Europe and America But still, communication will continue at the level of specific, specific cases, projects. ” says Shvydkoi.

He added that it is impossible to “cancel culture” because Russian culture is a phenomenon that “cannot be separated from world culture, it is impossible, because in Japan they will still read Chekhov, in England they will stage Chekhov.”

“Today’s events show that … culture is influenced by politics. But culture is higher than politics, culture turns into infinity, and politics works in modern times. We have to understand this. Russian in Japan, attitude towards Russian culture, as well as towards Japanese culture in Russia, Russian -It’s also not tied to various fluctuations in Japanese political life,” Shvydkoi said.

The Festival of Russian Culture in Japan has been held since 2006 and during this time more than 18 million people visited. As part of the festival, more than 500 events took place – concerts, exhibitions and other cultural events in 47 prefectures of Japan, and more than 11 thousand Russian cultural figures participated in them. Last year, Japan’s organizing committee was chaired by former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, whose tragic death in July of this year shocked the country.

28 events are planned for this year. In October, for the first time in 27 years, the State Academic Dance Ensemble named after Igor Moiseev will go on tour. The tour was postponed twice, now the plans and schedule of the holding have already been approved.
