Everything previously known about black holes can be disproved by new findings. Some scientists even have complete doubts about their existence.
Do black holes really exist? No one has actually seen one, although cosmologists report they appear all over the universe. In 2019, with great technical effort and a complex algorithm, scientist Katie Bouman managed to get a very blurry image of one of these black holes in the Messier 87 galaxy, located 55 million light-years from Earth.
The first success – at least it can prove the existence of black holes. But until now, it’s been impossible to closely study any of these supermassive structures. So black holes have been raising questions for decades that scientists haven’t been able to find answers to. They are breaking the laws of physics. So astronomers have no choice but to make hypotheses and speculate about their properties.
history of the universe
How are stars formed, what are the dangers of black holes, and how does the universe really work? This science series takes viewers on a journey into the depths of the cosmos. Each episode tackles an exciting topic in astronomy and showcases achievements in modern space exploration. From distant solar systems to dark matter, elements that formed billions of years ago. The history of the universe is often hidden under the mundane.
