Ifo: One in five Ukrainian refugees is working

-

According to a survey by the Ifo Institute, one in five refugees from Ukraine found a job in Germany. Most of them work below their qualifications.

A fifth of those who fled Ukraine now find work in Germany. This was explained by the Ifo Institute in Munich, citing a non-representative survey of nearly 1,500 refugees.

But according to the survey, more than half work below their formal professional qualifications. Among the refugees who came to Germany as a result of the war in Ukraine, the desire to work is “very high” and few are interested in getting a job.

Refugees want to stay more often

Most respondents want to stay in Germany for at least the next two years and make a good third plan to return to Ukraine. In June it was almost half.

According to the Ifo Institute, the new survey confirms the summer trend that most refugees from Ukraine are of working age, have a good formal education and are already employed in Ukraine.
