The UAE Embassy in Washington DC is organizing an art exhibition entitled “When the Coffee is Brewed: Stories Told by Emirati Women Artists” from September 22 to October 14, 2022. The exhibition will be held at the Fathom Gallery in Washington , DC and will include a range of works presented by 27 Emirati artists living in the country, coordinated by Derwaza Experimental Art Platform in Abu Dhabi.
Shaima Hussain Gargash, UAE Deputy Chief of Mission in Washington, said: “Art has a unique ability to connect people and cultures, regardless of their diverse backgrounds, and the works featured here are an expression of celebration. Women and the spaces and forums that bring women together to reflect on the creativity and development of our society.” .
The exhibition coincides with the context of the celebration of Emirati Women’s Day and the appreciation of the respected contribution of women to the development of various arts and creativity in the country. It also highlights opportunities for women and the role of women’s meetings on boards. in strengthening social bonds. The works on display reflect a wide range of artistic styles and themes explored by participating artists, including artist Ghada Al Sayegh, whose works are created using digital technologies, and Sheikha Al Ketbi, who specializes in installation art. The exhibition also features Dr. Najat Makki and Mrs. Benedict Gaymont, specializing in abstract painting, whose works embody the concept of social collaboration.
Munira Al Saeh, representative of Derwaza Experimental Art Platform, said: “This exhibition celebrates the role of women as one of the main pillars of any nation or society building and aims to clarify the importance of cultural exchange and community activism. and development.”
