Abu Dhabi Art announced yesterday the list of artists commissioned to develop new creative works curated by a specific group of cultural and heritage sites in the Al Ain and Manarat Al Saadiyat region as part of the Artists Commoning in Cultural Sites program. It includes new works by artist Abdullah Al-Saadi, artist Marinella Sanatore, artist Shilpa Gupta and artist Conrad Shawcross.

These artists, in different ways, lead the public to think about different concepts such as society, public participation, language, memory, human and finally light.
Each of these works displayed in cultural facilities reflects basic concepts in society at large, a creative idea that gained great momentum after the spread of the pandemic, which caused a state of closure around the world and changed many aspects and concepts of our society. everyday life. he lives.
Regarding the 2022 Cultural Sites Artist Allocation Program: Emirati artist Abdullah Al Saadi was inspired in his artistic work by a fascinating combination of drawing, composition and artistic notes, and his passion for collecting things. He discovers them, systematically divides them and tries to invent new letters of the alphabet… and when he reaches the public with this work, he succeeds in realizing it and this creative scene is complete. A latent message is revealed to him, including a message about the global pandemic period and its aftermath.
The work by creator Marinella Sanatorie, entitled Allied Objects, is a large-scale metal masterpiece decorated with LED lights, and the work contains texts and iconographic elements inspired by the Italian artist’s cultural background.
Shilpa Gupta’s work ‘They still don’t know what I dream’ is on display at Al-Jahili Fort in Al Ain and is the result of a creative practice involving various media such as found collections, interactive visual works. Based on computer systems and performance.
Artist Conrad Shawcross will also present at Al Ain Oasis his creative work entitled “Patterns of Absence (Bb36D10) – Desert Lighthouse”, reviewing his efforts to respond to the power of light, space and contemplation. dessert.
It should be noted that the ‘Artists in Cultural Places Commission’ programme, formerly known as ‘Horizons: Artists’ Commission’, forms part of Abu Dhabi’s general year-round arts programme, providing the public and visitors with a platform to discover new artists, learn about their works, and visit cultural and heritage sites across the emirate.
The next edition of the Abu Dhabi Art Exhibition will open to the public in Manarat Al Saadiyat from today, Wednesday, November 16th, until November 20th, 2022. As for the commissioned works on display in Abu Dhabi, they will remain. Available for public viewing until January 22, 2023.
