The jury of the “Prince of Poets” program carried out tests and interviews with 40 poets who qualified for the individual interview stage held at the Abu Dhabi Theater, on Al Raha Beach. The directors of the Prince of Poets program met again with the list of twenty poets who will participate in the live program, in the presence of the director of the Academy of Poetry of Abu Dhabi Sultan Al-Amimi and members of Abu Dhabi. The jury includes: Dr. Ali Bin Tamim, President of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center and Dr. Amani Fouad, Professor of Literary Criticism. Speaking at the Cairo Academy of Arts, Dr. Mohamed Hajo, Professor of Semiotics and Discourse Analysis at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the Mohammed V University of Rabat, writer Raad Bandar, member of the advisory committee, journalist Aref Omar, organizer of the program and Abdullah Al-Masabi, director general from the program.
The shortlist of 20 poets was selected according to precise criteria that depend on the linguistic integrity of the poem, the accuracy of imagination and imagery, the poet’s relationship with cultural heritage, heritage elements and contemporary values, and the strength of presence and poet’s recurrence.
After the exams, 40 poets representing Arab and non-Arab countries left Al Raha Beach Theater to return to their countries while awaiting the jury’s announcement of the final list of live competitors. Earn the title of Prince of Poets, a Cloth of Poetry, and a Prince’s Ring for the tenth season of The Prince of Poets.
