The Emirates Heritage Club hosted a virtual conference to coincide with International Poetry Day, which falls on 21 March each year, entitled “Fifty Emirati Poets”, hosted by poet and scholar Dr. Sultan Al-Amimi, President. Director of the Board of Directors of the Union of Writers and Writers of the United Arab Emirates, Academy of Poetry.
Fatima Al-Mansoori, Director of the Center for Studies and Research at the Club, said in her opening speech: Reception of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at its thirtieth conference held in Paris in 1999. With World Poetry Day on March 21 of each year, the belief in the importance of poetry emerged as a form of expression and manifestation of linguistic and cultural identity, as well as an essential vehicle of human values ​​and values. Al-Mansoor added that the Emirates Heritage Club was one of the first state institutions to document and preserve Nabatean poetry, and the club has managed to publish many collections of Nabataean poetry by great poets, the most important being the collection of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God bless your soul. It maintains its pioneering role in this field, organizing evenings, celebrating poetry, publishing anthologies and major poetry studies, valuing and honoring poets.

Sultan Al-Amimi talked about his book “Fifty Emirati Poets” and said that the book documents various Emirati poets from different emirates in the country and gives an overview of each poet’s life from birth. After analyzing the names of the fifty poets included in the book, the author indicated that he tried to make a choice of poetic models from the Emirates, based on various bases, namely, the selection of poets from different emirates in the country and the poetic experiences presented. different environments such as desert, coastal, agricultural and mountain regions. This anthology covers the various poetic arts that poets created, including special poetic metrics that distinguished the people of Emirati, such as “Al-Wanah”. “Al-Taghroda”, “Al-Rada” and others.
Al-Amimi notes that he relied on a variety of sources to compile the book, such as printed books, ancient poetic manuscripts, personal oral transmissions, audio and video recordings, and used newspaper and magazine archives to corroborate various poems. posted on them.
The conference was attended by Badr Al-Amir, Managing Director of the Centre, Moza Al-Dari, Head of the Department of Studies and Research, Saeed Al-Mannai, Heritage Advisor to the Club, and a number of poets, researchers, scholars and interested parties. included a series of interventions and questions that led to a discussion.
